A group of experts from within the Municipality of Amaroussion have selected three good practices as the best ?Briefcase? practices in the city of Amaroussion (Greece). In the coming months these practices will be further analysed and more extensively described. Practice 1: ?Amaroussion Kindergartens? This practice at local level aims at offering care services & education to children. Thirteen Municipal Kindergarten are involved that work with children from the age of 8 months to 6 years old. They receive medical attention, a meal, gaming, gymnastics, classes of foreign languages and a range of other services. Up till now only 5 private kindergartens existed. The municipal kindergartens are very much needed in addition. They have low fees, give good care and educational services. Other municipal kindergartens will open following the model of the Municipal Kindergartens. The initiator is the Municipality of Amaroussion. Practice 2: ?Tele-working? Greek Universities want to make full use of their scientific personnel. And tele-working is used effectively over the last decade in the Universities in order to achieve this. No physical presence of personnel is required although continuous communication with the staff is possi-ble through internet services. As a result less resources are being used and universities can work at low cost. The children of the staff feel the presence and care of the parents and next to that it saves both money that was meant for the fees of babysitting and transportation expenses. The added value of the project lies in the more productive scientists and the way it strengthens the family relations of personnel. Initiators of the project are: Universities, insti-tutions, researchers and other scientific staff. Practice 3: ?Research Centre for Gender Equality (?KETHI?) This research centre at national level conducts research and studies on gender equality, pro-vides documentation, informs & advises women, monitors & evaluates projects and raises awareness on gender issues. Its main target group is unemployed women, women wishing to set up a business, women requesting information on career employment and legislation. Up till now they conducted a number of publications, guides of good practices & implementing projects under the 5th Community Action Program. Their added value lies in the dissemina-tion of statistical data and information, the periodical reports, studies, publications, and the forums, conferences and seminars the centre organizes.
